Emergency Medical Exams

If you have been in an auto accident - even if your car has sustained little or no damage, you sill need to see a doctor. Personal Injury Protection’s 14 Day rule and Emergency Medical Condition applies to all auto injury patients. If one does not seek medical treatment within the 14 days, they have forfeited their PIP coverage.

This means that if certain symptoms do not surface within the two week period, they will not be covered. Many factors can prevent patients from feeling the extent of their injuries within the 14th-day rule and that is why Orlando Injury Medical Group helps post-accident medical exams to identify and treat injuries before they worsen.

Emergency Medical Condition (EMC) as a medical condition: manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity, which may include severe pain, such that the absence of immediate medical attention could reasonably be expected to result in any of the following:

  • Serious jeopardy to patient health,

  • Serious impairment to bodily functions,

  • Serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.
